VISION STATEMENT
Improving the quality of life for those we touch
Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC) was organized in
November, 1935 under the cooperative laws in the State of Minnesota to furnish, improve, and expand
electric service to its members in the West Central area of Minnesota.Authority to form such a cooperative came from the passage of the Rural
Electrification Act which was signed by President Franklin Roosevelt on May 11, 1935.KPC is governed by an elected nine-person board of directors who
establish the policies of the cooperative, and hires the
CEO.
The first distribution line was energized on October 25, 1939 from a
substation owned by Northern States Power located at New London, MN.
KPC presently serves over 7900 customers in Kandiyohi, Swift, Stearns, and ChippewaCounties.Our customers are primarily residential along with seasonal, farm
accounts, and several hundred small commercial accounts.
In 2001, the KPC Board of Directors decided to move one
step closer to becoming a Total Energy Provider by expanding our services to
include Propane. Today this service has grown to serve just over 900
residential, agricultural, and commercial customers throughout the area.
In May of 2007, the headquarters was moved to the

Currently KPC has 31 employees. In 2006, we sold over 144
million Kwh, with total revenue of over $11 million.
