Message from the CEO

Message From the CEO Hi, I’m David George, the CEO of Kandiyohi Power Cooperative and I welcome you to our website. If you are a member of this Cooperative you are a part of a unique type of business that offers you certain rights and opportunities some of which are highlighted here on this website. If you are not a member of Kandiyohi Power Cooperative, we welcome you and encourage you to explore the various aspects of our Cooperative through this website as well.

As a cooperative, Kandiyohi Power lives by the 7 Cooperative Principles. These principles differentiate us from other types of businesses. These principles are as follows:

Cooperative Principles
Voluntary and Open Membership — Cooperatives are voluntary organizations, open to all persons able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership.

Democratic Member Control — Cooperatives are democratic organizations controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions.

Members’ Economic Participation — Members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of their cooperative.

Autonomy and Independence — Cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members.

Education, Training, and Information — Cooperatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperatives.

Cooperation Among Cooperatives — Cooperatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the cooperative movement by working together.

Concern for Community — While focusing on member needs, cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities.

It is the goal of Kandiyohi Power to provide as much information about our Cooperative as possible, (and practical), to its members and the public and we do this through various communication vehicles such as this website, the member newsletter “The Kilowatt”, coffee shop meetings and our member’s annual meeting. We do this because we believe that an informed membership and community helps us be a better business, helps us improve our customer service and helps improve the quality of life for those we touch.

So go ahead and explore the many aspects of our website and of our cooperative and if you have questions that are not answered here, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
